As a consultant in health performance, change management and training Norma Christison brings a wide range of skills and expertise acquired from over 25 years working in the NHS and 7 years in performance management with a leading national auditing company.  

Norma originally trained as a nurse in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and went on to train as a midwife and specialised in public health.  She obtained her Masters Degree at Southampton University and is a Fellow of the Florence Nightingale Foundation.

Being a clinician, Norma is able to work alongside user groups and clinical teams to examine how existing services are being delivered, and to identify affordable, local solutions that deliver improved services, more efficiently. 

Norma has developed her own model of delivering successful change during seven years performance management.  She uses a friendly, encouraging, evidence based, whole systems approach that involves all the key people.  Her key to successful change is in communicating information clearly, keeping solutions simple, and facilitating inclusive discussion e.g. across teams and organisations.  She is able to analyse a range of evidence and to communicate findings in a way that influences others to take effective action.

Norma has worked alongside leading organisations such as the Department of Health, the British Heart Foundation, the Audit Commission, a number of international pharmaceutical companies, local government, Primary Care Trusts, Hospital Trusts, Independent Treatment Centres, and universities, including the Wessex Institute for Health Research and Development.

She has:

  • contributed to the design and testing of national performance and data quality reviews;
  • used a wide range of methodology to design local studies;
  • developed clinical guidelines;
  • co-ordinated and delivered a wide range of training and conferences; and
  • brings a wide range of expertise in specific topics such as health inequalities, commissioning, payment by results,  strategic planning, A&E, outpatients, coronary heart disease, post natal depression, pharmacy, use of temporary staff, and managing demand. 

Norma’s clinical background has given her a comprehensive understanding of the culture and current demands of health needs delivery.  She looks forward to continuing to work alongside you and others to help provide the best possible care.
